Halloween: Who Do You Want to Be?
I love Halloween!
Maybe it’s because I loved the theatre growing up. Any excuse to dress up and play someone else always sounded like fun to me! I have so many happy memories of trick-or-treating with my neighborhood friends as a child. I remember often starting as early as September to figure out what I wanted to be for Halloween! For me, most of the fun was imagining what I wanted to be. There were so many possibilities! Did I want to be someone or something completely different than my “usual” self? Or did I want to be an enhanced super version of myself? It was always a tough decision. But I loved the process!
As an adult – I still love Halloween. Handing out candy to trick-or-treaters is one of my favorite evenings of the entire year. But the main reason I love Halloween as an adult is because of the self-transformation concept it still evokes in me.
In our adult life, we don’t often give ourselves the opportunity to consider “who we’d like to be”.
This Halloween, I encourage you to not only consider who you’d like to be for Halloween – but who you’d like to be in your life.
I believe everyday we have a choice to decide what kind of person we want to be. It doesn’t matter what mistakes we made yesterday or who we may have hurt. Every day presents the opportunity for us to choose again.
Therefore, today, let’s think about who we want to be – today and in the future. Do we want to be a leader in our field? A loving and giving friend? Let’s take a minute and imagine ourselves being the best version of ourselves and clarify what that would specifically look like. Don’t generic! Get specific with the details of exactly what you’ll wear and how you’ll talk. Let’s fully develop the character that is YOU!
NEXT STEPS
Today, take a minute and imagine who we want to be. Let’s clarify what characteristics and actions we would need to embody to be that person. Then, make a conscious effort to be that person today.
LET ME KNOW HOW IT GOES!
In the comment section below, tell me who you want to be. What actions are you going to take today to become this person. Let’s all encourage each other to transform into the best versions of ourselves!
